Kiev, situated on the banks of the Dnipro River, is a proud capital of the Ukraine. It was a powerful city kingdom during the Middle Ages rivaling Novgorod and Vienna. Kiev has become one of the main targets of the Mongol invaders who pillaged it thrice. Nonetheless, the city has preserved its beautiful architecture and tradition. In more recent history, the city witnessed events of the Orange Revolution.

Most of the city's population speaks Russian and it's economy is closely integrated with that of Russia. Kiev has plenty of hotels to choose from, most of which date back to the Soviet era. However, there are few hotels that offer modern-day amenities. Service in Kiev hotels is usually of higher level than in Moscow for comparable hotel price.
